Google Play Console Phone Verification
Guide to Resolving Google Play Console Phone Verification Issues: Personal Experience
If you're encountering an error during the phone verification process on the Google Play Console,
such as "Too Many Requests" or "Quota Exceeded", this guide will walk you through how to
troubleshoot and resolve it based on my personal experience.
Step 1: Identifying the Error Using the browser Console
Enter your phone number: Start the phone verification process by entering your number in
the required field and click Verify.
Error Message Displayed: If an error appears, follow these steps to see the details:
Right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect
Go to the Console tab to view the error log.
You will likely see one of the following errors:
Quota Exceeded Error(Check quota err)
Too Many Requests Error
Step 2: Handling "Quota Exceeded" Error
If you see a "Quota Exceeded Error" in the console, it means that the Google service has
reached its daily limit for phone number verification attempts.
What is a Quota?
When using an API service like Google’s phone verification system, there’s a daily limit on
the number of SMS or calls (e.g., 10000 messages per day) that can be sent. This is to
prevent spamming or abuse. Once this quota is reached, further requests will be blocked
until the limit resets.
Solution:
1. Try using a different phone number: This error usually affects specific numbers, so try
with another one if possible.
2. Test in the morning: From my personal experience, the best time to test again is during
low-traffic hours. I successfully verified my number at 11:00 AM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
Testing earlier in the day increases your chances of being within the new daily quota limit.
Step 3: Handling "Too Many Requests" Error
If you see "Too Many Requests Error", it means that you've made too many verification
attempts in a short period of time. This can trigger a temporary block on your account
verification.
Solution:
1. Wait for 7-10 days: Based on my experience, Google temporarily blocks verification attempts
for a few days if this error appears. I waited for 10 days before retrying.
2. Clear Chrome cache: Before retrying, make sure to clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
Here’s how:
1. Open Chrome and click on the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
2. Select Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear Browsing Data.
3. Under the Time range, select All time.
4. Clear all data under both Basic and Advanced tabs (including Browsing history,
Download history, Cookies, Cached images, etc.). Ensure that all sections show 0 in the
cache details.
5. Important: Log out of all accounts before clearing the cache. Click Sign out from the
bottom of the Chrome dialog.
3. Retry after clearing cache: Once you've waited for the necessary time and cleared your cache,
reattempt the phone verification.
Step 4: Final Retry and Success
After completing the above steps (depending on the error you faced), return to the Google Play
Console and retry the phone verification process:
· Enter your phone number.
· Click Verify.
· Follow the instructions to enter the verification code sent to your phone.
If all steps were followed, you should now be able to complete the phone verification process
successfully!
Conclusion
By following this guide, users facing "Quota Exceeded" or "Too Many Requests" errors in the
Google Play Console should be able to resolve these issues. Whether it’s waiting for the quota
reset or clearing the cache after multiple attempts, patience is key. I hope my experience helps
you resolve this quickly and easily
